A peaceful weekend

They don't come very often in our world, but we actually did not have much on our schedule this weekend. We have been able to get some things done around the house, kids have had some time with friends and we even slept in! As you can tell, I am not great at anything routine, so I am going to try this again, a quick blog every a.m. to celebrate our families successes and challenges, to remember the things that are most important to me in the world and to grow as a parent and wife through reflection. 2011 is over halfway through, but the challenges in front of us are very apparent and I hope this blog will allow me to take pride in the little things in life.

Great Weekend

This was a full weekend for our family. Savannah and I attended the Opera for the first time on Thursday with our friends Raina and Marilee for Rigoletto at the Long Center. It was a great experience and we enjoyed watching and reading the text.

Friday was the first pasta party of the season and it was great to have the team over. We also welcomed the new men's varsity lacrosse coach, Joe Ernst. All enjoyed the feast of pasta, cheesy bread, green beans and chocolate cake.

Saturday was beautiful and a great day for lacrosse. I was joined at the game by Andrew and Megan, the Tull girls and Megan's son Cameron. Raina and Carter Parsons also joined and while the kids did not watch the game as much, the adults enjoyed a fantastic and competitive game against Baylor. The 14-8 win was a great way to start the Buc's final season and it was wonderful to see the students so pleased with their effort.

Saturday night the Tull clan, Parson family and Bowmans all enjoyed fajitas for dinner at our house and the kids played everwhere--back 40, wii, upstairs, downstairs etc. Mom's talked in the kitchen while dads bounced back and forth to cook. We also watched the infamous Andy DVD and saw both Bill and Andy in short skirt action....

Sunday was the super bowl and while I spent most of the day preparing for my Higher Ed Law class, I did take time to enjoy some family time at the end of the evening. As always, the spring will be full and busy, but this was a great way for the kids to have some time with dad before LAX season kicks into high gear.

First Day of School

It was a good morning in the Bowman household for the first day of school. Everyone was really excited and ready to take their plants to their new teacher. Savannah started the 4th grade at Pickett Elementary and will have 3 main teachers this year; Mrs. Krechmar, Ms. Kashinski and Mrs. Chapman. Eli returns to Carver Elementary where he has Ms. Plagens for his 1st grade teacher. Eli enjoyed welcoming back our favorite crossing guard, Mr. Gaddison and as we walked toward the school he was approached by the Williamson County Sun photographer and she followed him around for our walk to school. We will see if he makes the paper. These were taken on our tree swing...the annual first day of school spot!

Southwestern Graduation Day--08

Graduation always brings moments of joy and sorrow. This particular class of lacrosse players, though have had 4 great years...four conference championships and four national tournaments. I have no doubt that they will go on to do great things and we hope to hear from them on a regular basis. We will miss feeding them and laughing with them dearly!
